This adware bundler is distributed through Adknowledge's advertising supported software managers. The application auto_java_updater.exe, “Auto Java Updater Setup ” by Optimum Installer has been detected as adware by 30 anti-malware scanners. The program is a setup application that uses the Adknowledge Fusion installer. Accoriding to the detections, it is a variant of Zbot (Zeus), a trojan that attempts to steal confidential information (online credentials, and banking details) from a compromised computer and send it to online criminals via a command-and-control server. The installer is marketed through download protals and search ads as the free Oracle Java Runtime but will also install additional software offers which include adware, PUPs and browser toolbars.
